Swiss Ambassador Visits Pattaya to Discuss Enhancing Quality of Life for Swiss Nationals in Thailand
On October 3rd, 2025 at the Royal Cliff Resort Hotel in Pattaya, members of Swiss expatriate associations and clubs based in Chonburi province and Pattaya hosted a welcome reception for H.E. Mr. Pedro Zwahlen, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Thailand, and his delegation. The occasion marked a dialogue aimed at strengthening cooperation across various sectors including diplomacy, economy, tourism, and consular affairs, with a focus on supporting and safeguarding the Swiss community residing in the region.
This visit served not only as a platform for international relations but also as an opportunity to explore ways to enhance the quality of life for Swiss nationals living in Pattaya and Chonburi. Key topics included improving daily living conditions, access to healthcare services, and the development of infrastructure tailored to the needs of the foreign resident community.
Currently, there are around 30,000 Thai nationals living in Switzerland, connected through 22 Thai associations. Meanwhile, over 10,000 Swiss citizens reside in Thailand, with Pattaya and Chonburi being among the most popular areas for permanent settlement.
Switzerland has also played a supportive role in helping Thailand become a regional medical hub and a leading destination for health and wellness tourism. This collaboration is seen as a strategic strength that could further attract foreign investment and tourism, while also raising the standard of care for international residents in Thailand.
This meeting represents a significant step in building a bridge between diplomatic, economic, and tourism cooperation, reinforcing not only Thai–Swiss relations but also supporting Pattaya’s development as an international city that promotes a high quality of life for both Thai citizens and expatriates in a sustainable way.

เมื่อวันที่ 3 ตุลาคม 2568 ณ โรงแรมรอยัลคลิฟ รีสอร์ท พัทยา คณะสมาคมและชมรมชาวต่างชาติสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ที่พำนักอยู่ในจังหวัดชลบุรีและเมืองพัทยา ได้จัดงานเลี้ยงต้อนรับ นายเปโดร สวาห์เลน (H.E. Mr. Pedro Zwahlen) เอกอัครราชทูตสมาพันธรัฐสวิสประจำประเทศไทย และคณะ ในโอกาสเข้าหารือเพื่อเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือในหลายมิติ ทั้งด้านการทูต เศรษฐกิจ การท่องเที่ยว รวมถึงประเด็นด้านกงสุลเพื่อช่วยเหลือและดูแลชาวสวิสที่พำนักในพื้นที่
การพบปะครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงแต่เป็นเวทีสร้างความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศ หากยังเป็นการเปิดโอกาสหารือแนวทางยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของชาวสวิสที่อาศัยในพัทยาและชลบุรี โดยเฉพาะการเอื้ออำนวยความสะดวกด้านการใช้ชีวิต การบริการด้านสุขภาพ และการพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐานที่สอดคล้องกับความต้องการของชุมชนชาวต่างชาติ
ปัจจุบันมีคนไทยพำนักอยู่ในสวิตเซอร์แลนด์ราว 30,000 คน ภายใต้เครือข่ายสมาคมไทย 22 สมาคม ขณะที่มีชาวสวิสอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศไทยกว่า 10,000 คน โดยพัทยาและชลบุรีถือเป็นพื้นที่สำคัญที่มีชาวสวิสจำนวนมากเลือกตั้งถิ่นฐานถาวร
ที่ผ่านมา สวิตเซอร์แลนด์ยังมีบทบาทสนับสนุนประเทศไทยก้าวสู่การเป็น ศูนย์กลางสุขภาพนานาชาติ (Medical Hub) และจุดหมายปลายทางด้านการท่องเที่ยวเชิงสุขภาพระดับโลก ซึ่งถือเป็นอีกหนึ่งจุดแข็งที่จะช่วยดึงดูดการลงทุน การท่องเที่ยว และยกระดับมาตรฐานการดูแลชาวต่างชาติที่อาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่
การหารือครั้งนี้จึงนับเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการสร้างสะพานเชื่อมระหว่าง ความร่วมมือทางการทูต เศรษฐกิจ และการท่องเที่ยว ที่จะไม่เพียงแต่ส่งผลดีต่อความสัมพันธ์ไทย–สวิส แต่ยังช่วยเสริมให้พัทยาเป็นเมืองนานาชาติที่เอื้อต่อคุณภาพชีวิตของทั้งคนไทยและชาวต่างชาติอย่างยั่งยืน
