Pattaya City Launches World No Tobacco Day Event, Advancing a Smoke-Free and E-Cigarette-Free City Policy
On May 29th 2025, Mr. Poramet Ngampichet, Mayor of Pattaya City presided over the opening ceremony of the World No Tobacco Day event. During the event, he also signed a declaration of cooperation on tobacco product control and the protection of non-smokers from both traditional cigarettes and e-cigarettes. The ceremony was attended by Pattaya City executives, members of the city council and relevant agencies and was held at Tappraya Meeting Room, Pattaya City Hall.
The event was held amid growing concerns following statistics from 2022, which revealed that as many as 269,553 Thai youths aged 15–24 was using e-cigarettes, a tenfold increase within a single year. One of the key contributing factors is easy access through online platforms. Pattaya City organized the event under the theme:
“The Deadly Threat: Cigarettes and E-Cigarettes Destroy Human Resources.” As part of the initiative, the city also signed a declaration of cooperation aimed at controlling tobacco products and protecting the health of non-smokers and e-cigarette users.
This initiative aims to foster collaboration between government agencies, communities, schools, and volunteers to promote vigilance instill anti-smoking values, and support sustainable smoking cessation efforts. The event featured educational sessions led by speakers from Pattaya City Police Station and Bang Saray Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, providing knowledge and awareness to over 250 participants. Attendees included school administrators, teachers, students, community leaders, and volunteers.
In addition, the event included an awards ceremony recognizing exemplary individuals who have successfully quit smoking, model volunteers, outstanding gas stations, and 11 educational institutions participating in the Smoke-Free Schools Project.
The event also focused on educating participants about the Tobacco Products Control Act B.E. 2560 (2017) and raising public awareness about the tactics used by the tobacco industry to target youth, with the goal of preventing access and reducing long-term consumption.

29 พ.ค. 2568 นายปรเมศวร์ งามพิเชษฐ์ นายกเมืองพัทยา เป็นประธานเปิดกิจกรรม วันงดสูบบุหรี่โลก พร้อมลงนามประกาศความร่วมมือในการควบคุมผลิตภัณฑ์ยาสูบ และคุ้มครองสุขภาพผู้ไม่สูบบุหรี่และบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า โดยมีคณะผู้บริหารเมืองพัทยา สมาชิกสภาเมือง และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องร่วมงาน ณ ห้องประชุมทัพพระยา ศาลาว่าการเมืองพัทยา
กิจกรรมดังกล่าวมีขึ้นท่ามกลางความกังวลจากสถิติปี 2565 ซึ่งพบว่า เยาวชนไทยอายุ 15-24 ปี สูบบุหรี่ไฟฟ้าสูงถึง 269,553 คน เพิ่มขึ้นกว่า 10 เท่าในรอบปีเดียว โดยหนึ่งในสาเหตุสำคัญคือการเข้าถึงผ่านสื่อออนไลน์
เมืองพัทยาได้จัดกิจกรรมภายใต้แนวคิด “มหันตภัยร้าย บุหรี่ บุหรี่ไฟฟ้า ทำลายทรัพยากรมนุษย์” พร้อมลงนามประกาศความร่วมมือในการควบคุมผลิตภัณฑ์ยาสูบ และคุ้มครองสุขภาพผู้ไม่สูบบุหรี่และบุหรี่ไฟฟ้า
การดำเนินการดังกล่าวมุ่งสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างราชการ ชุมชน โรงเรียน และอาสาสมัคร เพื่อเฝ้าระวัง สร้างค่านิยมไม่สูบบุหรี่ และส่งเสริมการเลิกสูบอย่างยั่งยืน โดยภายในงานมีวิทยากรจากตำรวจภูธรเมืองพัทยาและโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพ ตำบลบางเสร่ ให้ความรู้แก่ผู้เข้าร่วมอบรมกว่า 250 คน ประกอบด้วยผู้บริหารสถานศึกษา ครู นักเรียน ผู้นำชุมชน และอาสาสมัคร
นอกจากนี้ ยังมีพิธีมอบประกาศเกียรติคุณแก่บุคคลต้นแบบเลิกสูบบุหรี่ อาสาสมัครต้นแบบ และสถานีบริการน้ำมันต้นแบบ รวมถึงสถานศึกษาที่ร่วมโครงการสถานศึกษาปลอดบุหรี่ จำนวน 11 โรงเรียน
กิจกรรมครั้งนี้ยังเน้นให้ความรู้ด้านกฎหมายตามพระราชบัญญัติควบคุมผลิตภัณฑ์ยาสูบ พ.ศ. 2560 ตลอดจนรณรงค์ให้ประชาชนตระหนักรู้กลยุทธ์ของอุตสาหกรรมยาสูบที่พยายามเจาะกลุ่มเยาวชน เพื่อป้องกันการเข้าถึงและลดการบริโภคในระยะยาว
